But their summer hasn't been "lame", July has been way above average.

Raleigh is doing pretty good, its only natural to have a high that cold in July actually, coldest day so far has only been 88. My complaint is the clouds and that it had to happen on my birthday.

2.5 degrees to be exact, still no where near 2012.

Another day of clouds and under 80°F today.

Gardens and Crops not growing as should be, especially the Cukes, Peppers, and other warm sun loving veggies.
Grass on the other hand green.

Saturday July 22 Max: 85° Partly Sunny all day

Sunday: 80° Drizzle: Cloudy all day
Monday: 69° Rain: Cloudy all day
Tuesday: 68° Drizzle: Cloudy all day
Wednesday: 77° Sunny all day
Today Thursday: 77° Drizzle Cloudy all day

Tomorrow Friday: Clouds and Rain
Saturday: Clouds and Rain

Doesn't have to be a record cold or below normal summer for crops to be affected. Just takes 1 or 2 weeks to cut into growth. Since March we've had clouds and rain more than Sunny dry days.

Nighttime clouds and temps contributing to being above normal for the month

I hope Raleigh has another zone busting winter.

I've begun to see a slight slowdown in some of my more vigorous growers. We got a little sun today and squeezed out an 80, pretty crappy for the height of summer, but better than the previous couple of days. This weekend looks to be another tragedy, but it looks to return to normal next week.

Normal will feel like torch now. lol. Yeah, should be back to mid 80s next week. But then guess what...again another Cold front and digging trough comes in late next week.. Might be drier than this weekends though but still, no sustained heat showing up. No 90s or heatwaves.

And this is what I was talking about when Stitch27 had a fit I said its been harder to grow stuff past 10 yrs. Not because of cold below normal summers. Never said there was. Between the clouds, rains, wet soil, cool "periods" like we have now its enough to disrupt.. and even late starts like snowy March's, or cold soil in May, there's been battles and it's slowed the progress in the short season we have.

Even 1 week cuts into our time. Unless we have a very warm fall, it would be a shorter growing season for me, more than you probably.

I think clouds have become the biggest threat recent years. Wonder if that Solar Minimum is having an effect but that's another topic and a theory of my opinion.

Just took this..... That Cucumber been sitting there in same spot for 4 days now. LMAO. If it was hotter or sunnier it would of grew up the trellis. I hope those blossoms produce something soon. Tomatoes aren't ripening. Bell Peppers not growing much.

Yeah, I'm seeing lows around 68 F/20 C for 3 consecutive nights (Sat, Sun, and Mon). Very rare July weather for my area. July and August daily lows typically stay above 70 F at night down here during the entirety of both months.
