Which cities have the most precipitation days in each continent?
Ya'an City is called the "Rain City" in China, with 213.2 precipitation days per year.
The quantity of annual precipitation is large but not outstanding : 1692.5mm. Ya'an - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 0.1mm thresholds quoted here in the Wikipedia entry are not that useful for me. To avoid spurious readings from condenstaion/drip etc. a cutoff of at least 0.5mm is better - and 1.0mm is better still in my view.
It can be hard to track very short duration small falls. As far as I am concerned "wet" (1.0mm or more) days rather than "rain" days gives me a much better basis for comparison. Instruments used now generally cannot register less than 0.2mm anyway.
Sheesh! hat's an average of 27 mm on each rainday, so I doubt they'd be getting many days with < 1 mm. I think we have a winner.
