Usually when it rains here and its cold (under 50) its light misty rain so its nothing to cry about. You don't get as soaked as you do in warm rain (65 and above). Our heaviest rain usually falls in the 70s or 80s so its pretty warm. I can imagine cold air PLUS heavy rain like we can get in spring and summer, to be pretty hellish. But it seems most cold places don't get too heavy of rain. I wonder where you can get weather cold enough to see your breath, with tropical storm type rain?

Because you get wet.

If you don't drive & have to wait for a bus in the pi**ing rain it is no fun, even if you have an umbrella it can be windy so can be pointless & the bottom half of you will still get wet, not to mention getting splashed by cars...

My late grandmother worried about rain because she never drove a car, and thought the roads would be extremely slippery and everyone was bound to have accidents and get killed whenever it rained. Of course, most of her life cars had bias ply tires, which were lousy in wet weather. And in NYC with those old cobble stone streets, it was very slippery.

My wife is under the impression that you'll get sick if you're out in the rain. I happen to enjoy a thunderstorm on a hot day.

Rain bothers you more if you wear glasses, because glasses and water do not mix. Even a bit of drizzle spattering the lenses can cloud your view. If you can put your glasses away and still see well enough to walk around, it's not that big a deal, but if you're like close to legally blind without your glasses, then the rain can be a problem.

I love walking in the rain. The sound of the raindrops has some sort of soothing effect on me. It doesn't stop me from running my errands. If I have an umbrella and warm jacket, fine. If not, then that's fine as well.
If the shoes get dripping wet, then I stuff them with crumpled newspapers and keep them in a tilted position for a few hours.
Drying the hair after a walk in the rain and then preparing a hot drink is always a joyful thing to do. In fact, hot chocolate or coffee tastes great after a walk in the rain.

I don't really care if it's raining or not, but I will say that the car wreck incidence goes WAY WAY up.
So do falls.

If I wanted to go out in the rain I wouldn't live in the ghodforsaken desert!

Yep, I sometimes post on here during winter, with 1C/2C and heavy rain - lovely stuff. Get heavy rain with warmer temperatures too ..... fortunately.
