No 65 by April 14? Yuck. Highest temp in the forecast (through April 23) is 61 F / 16 C on April 21.
My dream climate's average high is just now hitting 65. That would imply that there have usually been days in the 70s, maybe low 80s by this time of year.
As for my actual climate, we had our first 30 C (86 F) reading of the year. Bowling Green hit 86 today, nearby Nashville hit 89. Hot east, cold west.
Bradley International (BDL) in Windsor Locks, CT surpassed 65 in February and even surpassed 70 the same month..... BDL's highest temp of 88°F/31°C was achieved this month... Bridgeport even managed to hit 65°F in February and it's near a very cold body of water which moderated the temps quite a bit. Hell, Bridgeport just recently hit 70°F/21°C as it's max temp of the year in April.... LaGuardia Airport in NYC hit 68°F/20°C in January which was one of its earliest recordings of that temperature. As for the max temps this year in the NYC area LaGuardia hit 78°F/25°C, Central Park hit 80°F/26°C, and Newark Airport in NJ hit 84°F/28°F.
Good. Seattle has been getting a run of great spring and summer weather, so what goes around comes around.
I'm sure last year Seattle reached 90F before we even had 70F.
This is to remind the locals that Seattle still has a pretty bad climate. (prefer it to here though)
Come uppance for them finally. We had to watch over and over again ad nauseum our national weather forecasts showing them sunny and above normal for months even years on end with that "ridiculously resilient ridge". The ridge died and so did their weather.
Hopefully that blob was a one off and never ever again shows up.
I feel no sympathy for the residents of Seattle; they got to experience two or three years in a row of anomalously warm temperatures thanks to that blob in the northern Pacific Ocean, meanwhile while the west coast bathed in much warmer than average weather, the eastern two thirds of the lower 48 states endured very cold and snowy winters, in some cases record breaking cold and Or snow, well, perhaps it is the eastern half of the country's turn to see a spell of extended warmth
That is a matter of opinion. My Dad lives in Vancouver BC and you couldn't pay me enough to live there despite its beauty. People from the PNW love the weather because it's what they know and they would be miserably hot in other parts of the country. But for the vast majority of us cold, rainy, cloudy weather with very few sunny days would not be certainly considered great climate, just the opposite in fact.
