It just goes to show this is entirely cultural. Pigs and cows have feelings too. I agree the way they are treated and killed is also problematic.

Well obviously, but countries like China will eat literally anything with a pulse... If any animals are going to be killed for food then the very least they deserve is to be treated well & killed as humanely as possible.

They are, especially when they're warmer and more humid than usual.

I have low expectations in this climate though, so it's not hard to keep me happy in winter here. As long as I have consistent lows below about 15-16 C, I'm good. I would have different expectations obviously in a seasonal climate.

I agree with that, and that's also the main reason aninal rights awareness is rising in Europe. Many people are not necessarily vegetarian but also choose to eat meat in a more "conscious" way. This is kind of a middle road between becoming vegetarian (or vegan) and blindly consume everything the industry produces.

Like I said before I don't eat much meat anyway, but I'm an extremely fussy eater, so at the moment I can't cut it out completely. I do go for Quorn options when I can & I always buy free range eggs etc.. But I think more needs to be done about countries like China, not just because they eat things which we consider as pets, but because they eat just about anything, including endangered species & treat them disgustingly too.
