Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Phoenix AZ
931 AM MST Tue May 9 2017

.SYNOPSIS...
An unusually strong low pressure storm system for early May will
continue to bring unsettled conditions to the Desert Southwest
through Wednesday. The best chances for showers and thunderstorms
will be Tuesday morning and afternoon with slimmer chances by
Tuesday evening across most of south-central and southwest
Arizona. Temperatures will be well below-normal as afternoon highs
struggle to get out of the 70s through Wednesday. Clearing skies
and a substantial warming trend will develop through the second
half of the week.

.DISCUSSION...
The infamous low we`ve been talking about the past
few days is continuing to slowly track to the northeast, with the
center of the low situated just south of the Mexico/Arizona
border.

Over the past 24-hours much of our forecast area has seen
a decent amount of precipitation with values ranging from .01" to
.4", with the greatest accumulation in western Arizona, along the
Colorado River Valley, and over the higher terrain east of
Phoenix.
