The rest of Spain except the coastlines have too hot summers for my tastes.

Hastings, Whangarei, Auckland etc

Baba, what's your opinion on these ones in the far north?

Whangarei, Auckland, Pahia etc, are generally considered second tier climates within NZ, I think.

All pretty nice, although a few more rain days than I prefer.

Definitely 2nd tier. Bay of Plenty has comparably warm climates which are much sunnier. For lower rainfall, Napier has similar daytime temperatures most of the year and is also much sunnier than those 3.

Yep - BOP, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Nelson, Blenheim are tier ones for me.

Auckland, Northland, Central Otago and the Mackenzie would be tier two.

Spain of course.

New Zealand is too wet and summers are weak.

Forgot about Tauranga, but remember it when I see it:

It's awesome, but lacks that extra perfect little 0.6C summer warmth

Whakatane environs are about 0.4C higher for summer Tmaxs, and get 100-150 hours more sun annually.

Except Whakatane has 100h less and still 24'C high.

Anyway, Napier, Hastings and Blenheim win easily.

It kind of sucks having the votes anonymous. Would've loved to see if our friend Gareth's voted yet

Warmest highs around Whakatane, are in the mid 25C range.

Be warned that Blenheim can see big daily variation in summer, by NZ standards -still pretty nice though.
