Whangarei, Auckland, Pahia etc, are genrally considered second tier climates within NZ, I think.
Al pretty nice, although a few more rain days than I like.
Definitely 2nd tier. Bay of Plenty has comparably warm climates which are much sunnier. For lower rainfall, Napier has similar daytime temperatures most of the year and is also much sunnier than those 3.

Yep - BOP, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Nelson, Blenheim are tier ones for me.
Auckland, Northland, Central Otago and the Mackenzie would be tier two.
Except Whakatane has 100h less and still 24'C high.
Anyway, Napier, Hastings and Blenheim win easily.
Warmest highs around Whakatane, are in the mid 25C range.
Be warned that Blenheim can see big daily variation in summer, by NZ standards -still pretty nice though.
