Just add the question you need answering into a thread that's already open. I know it's a perfectly genuine question, and you're perfectly entitled to post it, but it's just wasting space on the thread page.
Historically I would say Atlanta, but in the last couple decades I'd say DC. DC accumulates 90 degree days at a surprising rate. Maybe its the placement of the reporting station at National Airport but Wash puts some long stretches of sustained extreme heat. Atlanta is way down south but the elevation helps it stay a little less hot. Picture Atlanta but at/near sea level instead and more urbanized, you have DC. Also, even though DC is low elevation on the east coast its not at the immediate shore, so its a little more protected from cooling sea breezes than say New York for example, where a minor wind shift can stop a heat wave in a flash.
Ha. Never really hit me until now how similar these two are. Good comparison to illustrate the significance of elevation. Well the simple answer is Atlanta is a bit warmer in June and August. But it's also worth noting that in the latter part of the summer, it has a few more precipitation days and noticeably less sunshine hours than DC. Humidity doesn't look very extreme in either city.
Well i wouldnt consider either of the two summers to be hot.. but i mean in terms of which is hotter?...its has to be hotlanta.. think about it...they both are really similar in summer but summers in atlanta last a little longer just because atlanta overall posesses a warmer climate

Neither is "worse." Both are good summers but I'd say Atlanta is hotter just because of the duration of summer.
