Our extended summer continues. Reached the low 80s today and even though the sun is setting, it's still 77 F/25 C at 6:30PM. Autumn is on hold until further notice. Even the leaves seemed to have stopped changing. Remaining above 75 F/24 C through Tuesday. Probably one of the worst Octobers in recent memory. October 2007 was probably the last really bad October we've had.

Forget trying to not turn on the heat in October. I'm trying not to turn on the A/C.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
615 PM EDT Sat Oct 7 2017

While it felt like summer today, no new temperature records were
reported in our area. The station that came closest to it`s
record was Trenton which reported a high temperature of 84, and
the record high is 86.

It will be another night of above normal temperatures...a good
15 to 20 degrees above for most of us. Skies will cloud up
around midnight with the ceiling dropping fairly rapidly. These
clouds will being a chance of showers to the area by daybreak,
especially west of the I- 95 corridor. Can`t rule out a shower
across the coastal plain as well..

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM SUNDAY/...
Another warm day is expected on Sunday with temperatures topping out
around 80 in spots. With more cloud cover tomorrow, it will not be
as warm as today. Dewpoints will be summerlike, right around 70
degrees across much of the region. You`ll feel the humidity.

Expect a gloomy day tomorrow with cloud cover for much of it.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The mid-level progs feature a prolonged period of southwesterly flow
for the duration of the forecast

Oh, wait, this isn't Hawaii! This is the "frigid" Eastern U.S. that a multitude of vivacious personalities keep blathering about. Well golly gee, looks like those people were just spouting crap out of the wrong end!

Let the eternal summer commence yet again! In the meantime I'll be looking for places to relocate to that don't have multi-week streaks of honest-to-God tropical weather in the middle of the bloody autumn. At the rate Earth's climate is going, I may have to look at Mars to have a decent shot at meeting that criterion.
At the very least, my friend, Northern Maine, where the weather is more predictably cool!

Yup Cambium, looks like it. A return to summer-like temps coming for the eastern 2/3rds beginning later next week and lasting for much of the rest of October?

It actually stormed pretty good this afternoon. High was 82F/28C at IKK, 80F/27C at MDW and 79F/26C at ORD.

Average high for the first full week of October:

MDW: 76.3F
ORD: 76.3F
IKK: 76.9F

Took this pic after the storm..

Today reached a high of 82, the 3rd 80 degree day of the month. It drizzled in the morning with 0.14" falling and then turned into an overcast afternoon. If it had been sunny, it probably would have reached 84-86.

At 11 PM, it's still 70 with a 58 dew--very warm for this time of year.
