I wont get too technically in this post. And I wont go too far ahead with what GFS is showing next weekend for Ohio-Western PA. But I will show this...
Mid this week the trough goes on a Negative tilt..
Look at the axis shown for Wednesday morning on this map (Black Line)
Gray line is the axis 24hrs before, more North-South.
Red Line is the axis 24hrs after Thursday morning, more negative.
If this was winter we would be drooling because big storms form and snow falls with a setup like this. Also means severe weather, downpours, and strong winds as the trough swings in
Snow event maybe Friday for them. See that 997mb storm there over the UP? Thats where GFS says it will be. NAM further east so no snow anywhere. Canadian similar to GFS but less precip and only light snow for Wisconsin.
Nice to be seeing blues on the map again. But note the quick warn up in the East again as the Jet digs down in central U.S at this time
Both our first 60's of the season and our first 50's of the season look likely on the same day next week. It's not that common for this to happen but it's probably less unusual than it would seem.
High temperature today in the Indianapolis area looks like it will be in the mid perhaps upper 70’s today ahead of a slow moving cold front, gusty southwesterly winds should bring scattered showers and maybe a rumble of thunder later this evening; first frost/freeze of season likely Wednesday and Thursday morning, perhaps a mix of rain and snow late next week for the first real chill of the season, I will be outside all day today to enjoy what could well be the last balmy(t-shirt and shorts weather)of this season, it’s a shame winter has decided to make a return early this year.
