DISCUSSION...High pressure remains over the lower Mississippi
Valley while Hurricane Irma slides closer to the Florida Keys this
morning. Aloft a trough is over the eastern portions of the
country and this continues to drag in a cool and dry air mass to
the north central gulf coast.
Through the weekend and into the middle of the coming week temperatures
will remain below normal and conditions dry as a north flow
remains in place. A reinforcing cold front will move through by
Monday/Tuesday as Irma will moves north over Florida into the
southeast states.
Humidity and Temperatures will creep back up late in the week as
the return flow becomes established and low pressure moves across
the northern plains. The remnants of Irma will gradually dissipate
over the southeast states.
Almost forgetting about the remarkable weather here with Irma churning near Florida...this morning it dropped all the way down to 43 F/6 C and today is expected to only reach 64 F/18 C. Looks like we've skipped September and jumped right into October.
Dropped to 61 F here this morning. Forecast high of 83 F this afternoon. It's still sunny here, no clouds yet. So glad Irma track has shifted west. Looks like I won't be having to deal with another Matthew, thank god.
