La Nina's usually translate to colder than normal winters across the northern US...think back to years like 07-08, 08-09 and 10-11.

^^^^^^

The winter of 2007-2008 was milder than normal overall in Indianapolis; and the The winters of 2008-2009 and 2010-2011 were harsher than normal, I don't want to jinx us, but my gut feeling tells me that this winter has the potential to resemble the winter of 2010-2011, hoping that this isn't the case, but I feel it is VERY unlikely that the Indianapolis area will see another mild winter

I am sensing a similar vibe to the autumn of 2010 in Indianapolis; that fall was warmer and drier than normal, will the fall season of 2017 mirror the fall of 2010, and will this winter potentially resemble the winter of 2010-2011???, still too early to say what similarities and what differences this fall and winter season that will set things apart in terms of weather patterns

Personally, I'm hoping we mirror 2008 rather than 2010. Vancouver had it's second snowiest December on record in 2008.

Good news out west:

WILDFIRE SMOKE CLEARING IN US WEST AS STORMS MOVE THROUGH

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Storms brought cooler and wetter weather into the Western and Northwestern U.S. this weekend, breaking up a temperature inversion that had blanketed much of the region with acrid smoke from dozens of wildfires.

Officials at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise said Saturday they expected fire activity to decrease over the next several weeks. Center spokeswoman Kari Cobb says air quality should improve as the smoke-trapping inversion breaks up.

Looking at the temperatures we had this month youd never guess that the average high this point of the year is almost 80F
