I don't really swim in 18C water - maybe a quick dip, on a hot day in late spring. Typical swimming temperature would be around 20-22C.

Does the Med have more jellyfish than the UK? - I would have thought the UK had more.

that's a cool idea Joe - yeah ,takes a minute or two - feels cold at first - then the water feels warm once i'm in there for a while (a bit weird)

there are jellyfish here but they don't harrass me like the ones in warmer waters .

btw , the sea water looks a lot clearer these days along the caostline here these days - any reason for that ?

nah- you would be fine - it actually warms up the longer you are in the water - it is pretty sharp on the senses at first though

Lack of rain gives clear coastal waters. Also having no large rivers nearby, helps as well.

that's something i never realised Joe - all makes sense with the rivers etc - plus the busy shipping lanes . I'm guessing silt getting unruffled ?

always wondered why the sea on the south coast UK was a nice green color but not here so much .

Could be -the shipping lanes aren't that shallow here, so I've never seen that.

Green is a high concentrations of plankton, algal bloom etc, and is usually seen during the warmest time of the year in temperate waters - a good sign that Tuna, Marlin and Kingfish are running, around here.

You'll need a boat for the first two species, but Kingis can be caught from shore.

a lot of fisherman out on the coastline at the moment Joe - right by the swimmers and families etc - theres a 5 mile stretch to choose from for either .

Lots of wildlife activity as well as you'd expect - out on the rivers today and cycling around - blissfull out there , 26c is not too bad a temp - close to my upper limit though .

keep seeing loads of baby seagulls wandering about - i have one in the garden at the moment feeding it tins of sardines lol

Do you live right by the coast? -I'm about 4 km back from the beach, and almost never see seagulls here.

Sounds nice there -looking forward to summer again.
