I think it depends how close that High in the Gulf of Alaska will be. My guess it will be further west than what the UKMet model is showing.

CFSv2 going to a strong La Nina for the winter
Looking like we may have three torch winters in a row.

We had a torch during the Super El Nino 2015-16, and a torch during the weak La Nina of 2016-17. If this La Nina had enough punch, this could be a very different winter for the Central US.

If the high in Alaska is further west wouldn't that mean colder for the NW, albeit with less precip?

Yes I think it would mean that.

Right now the UKMet model shows above normal precip for much of North America this winter. Central Plains not so much though.

Do Nina's give New England lots of snow? I'm planning my ski trip again, and am trying to figure out what month would be best to go. Last year March was perfect.

Impressive dive in the SST's past few months. Very interesting. Didn't expect anything more than a weak La Nina or Neutral but we may be getting more than that.
