I like the look of San Diego, but I'm just not cool with the low rainfall. So Melbourne, then San Diego. Third will be either London, Miami, Lima, or Chicago -not an easy choice.

Although on another day I may have picked Chicago. Can't decide between San Diego and Miami for third place.
I would have thought choosing London would have made Melbourne the most obvious second or third choice -is it the lack of snow?

The winters are too warm, and the summers don't compensate because it's basically Heathrow with uncomfortable heat spikes. BeerMan's horror stories have put me off the place

I see Melbourne summers as more like Southern California, with cold spells - but it's all in the eye of the beholder.

I guess that's the glass half full interpretation.

Melbourne's heatwaves seem to be generally much warmer than a typical day in a coastal SoCal city, which I appear relatively stable. Whenever I watch the Australian Open I always days around 22C, then a sudden swing to around 40C.

I'm surprised Beerman hasn't popped in to vote for Dallol yet

Mid to high 20's seem pretty standard there. The dryness is another factor -it looks very Californian in that regard.

1. Torshavn-I like the fact that it's about the cloudiest place I've seen, and that precipitation falls regularly throughout the year. The summer is cool which is a huge plus for me as I hate hot, sunny summers. The only issue I have with Torshavn is it seems to be missing a real winter with cold temperatures with snowfall--then it would be absolutely perfect.

2. Chicago-Gets a bit hot and nasty in the summer but definitely has 4 seasons and the city has interesting weather. It's never boring or predictable.

3. London-Another climate that is relatively cool and cloudy and does not have hot summers.

4. Oymyakon-Way too dry for my liking but has changes of seasons and a real winter.

5. Melbourne-Too sunny/warm but does have unique weather patterns and interesting storm patterns. It's also prone to cold fronts so I could live with that

6. Lima-Dry but it's relatively mild and cloudier than most desert climates.

7. Miami-Yeah, it's HOT but has changeable weather.

8. San Diego- It's preferable to #9 & #10 which isn't saying much. Too predictable w/ no seasonable variations.

9. Vostok Station-Too cold & dry!

10. Dallol-This climate is unlivable!!! Holy hell--between the lack of precipitation, constant sun, and intense heat--it looks scary!
