Classic Melbourne. We've been barely scraping over 20 for the first time in ages - then suddenly we hit 30.

The local ski area closed unexpectedly early yesterday -the earliest closing for many years, after heavy rain. I don't know how much rain, but the river here was running about 4 metres above the high flow level.

Warmest and coldest low level locations for NZ up to the 26th

Havelock North at 6.9C/19.1C

Roxburgh at 2.1C/14.7C

Those chilean trolls taking holidays in the ski resorts are getting destroyed by snow, don't you think?

Haha, for sure, as they can be anywhere on the globe each different month.

The Australian resorts still are open or did they already closed?

A hot day across the center of the country due to a strong foehn wind. Dewpoints as low as -38ºC were registered.

And the weather produced some dangerous wildfires in the hills of San Luis province.

Quite active day today. First, Hurricane Irma? nop, foeh winds in Catamarca

https://twitter.com/datamarcainfo/st...19872311414786

That hot Zonda winds caused big swings in temps and humidity. Look at this, 13ºC up in just one hour, while the humidity fell from 38% to 2%.

And this, the temps dropped 13ºC in just 2 hours during the sunrise! just after Zonda stopped

All along with new wildfires spreading, this time in La Rioja province.

Meanwhile in the Andes there were heavy snowfalls in the ski resorts of Mendoza and Neuquén provinces. Some photos:
