This weather has been interesting and I like watching the front go back and forth, much more interesting than dry arctic weather that just brings cold and then warm ups.
A more or less permanent Monster ridge has been in place over Florida and coastal Georgia/Carolinas since roughly new years of 2010/11 with few exceptions. I was in Central Florida for Christmas week in 2013, 2015, and 2016 and each time is was close to 90 degrees when the normals are in the low 70s for highs. 2015 especially was brutal in terms of heat.
This has been going since 1990, but since 2010 the heat has really ramped up with almost no rain the last 3 summers and then getting 20 to 30" in a few weeks times 3 years in a row. This pattern will never go away in my lifetime. Beats me how we had a cool Jan and the last 60+ months have been above normal. This month tore the record books to tatters.
That's in Julian, which is at 4,400ft. I've been to Julian CA before, it's a quaint small town in the Laguna Mts. Generally 20° colder than San Diego in the winter, but about 10° warmer in the summer
Whoa! So cool you been keeping track all this time. Did you know you can click the header in your daily reports with CoCo and sort the columns? Easy to see what your highest daily rainfall was. Mine was 3.75" Oct 30, 2017
My total from Sunday is my fifth highest total.
The most rain I got in a day was 7.91" on April 2, 2017! The airport recorded even more that day at 9.10".

Yeah I have yet to see daytime temps below 50's at sea level so far in California. In the coolest years there are occasionally temps in the 40's with heavy rain. Obviously if it's sunny the temp has to rise above 50 in California due to the strong sun angle.
In any case this latest cutoff low is going to churn out some rain. Very nice.

Eureka had a few highs in the 40s, but that's probably not that uncommon for them this time of year.

Eureka has summer days that don't get out of the 50's so yeah I believe it. Fall is mild there though.
