North Atlantic Ridge expanded enough to encompass Newfoundland. via tropicaltidbits.com. One pocket of Newfoundland reached near 60°F. East of the Rockies up to 60°N or so was rather mild, too.

Wow, yeah, pretty damn warm for that latitude. 850mb temps are +8C over there.

BTW .. That coastal storm we got is now NW of there as a strong 977mb storm. Being on the west side of a strong storm always sends up warmth but that seems impressive up there.

Looks like the ridge will finally die on Friday allowing some Pacific moisture to finally hit the NW, ending the dry streak at 13 days.

Looking forward to it. Airmass has become quite stagnant under this ridge and just yesterday visible satellite showed smoke from the CA wildfires drifting up the coast towards Washington and BC.

It was hazy yesterday and today due to California wildfires, but not as bad as it was in the summer.
