On one hand, a moderate-ish mediterranean climate with quite sizeable rainfall and greenery and on the other hand a sunny East Spain semi-arid almost desert climate with hot, hot summers and plenty of British tourists

My vote's for Lisbon. Of the archtypical Med climates in Europe, it's one of the very best Benidorm is one massive meh! I also have some doubts about the validity of the Benidorm data since it doesn't come from an official source. Hopefully everything's alright with that one.

Yes indeed. Summers there will be like a perpetual heat stroke. Worse than NYC.

I'd frankly rather be knee-deep in snow in Moncton all winter than spend a summer without AC in Benidorm... thankfully there are cooler areas of Spain

Benidorm's data looks questionable. 18C highs in January? Good heavens! I hope that number isn't made up 🙊🙊

Neither place is for me. I need it to be humid and not cold. Benidorm is too dry.

On the other hand it might be a fabulous winter retreat Málaga has 16.8C though and Murcia airport on the sea 16.6C with Almería having 16.9C, with Alicante (the warmest among official stations) has 17.0C... looks like a bit of a problem to me there. Well spotted mate!

Lisbon for the milder winters & ability to grow tropical vegetation. Benidorm had snow last January!
