Wish everyone could experience a storm like this.. You can feel & hear the power of mother nature.

My snowboard is pointless today. Have to take multiple measurements and use an average. Also have to remember I had 1.5" on the ground before this one.

7:20am Map.

Raining on Martha's Vineyard, mixing in Manhattan? Probably an error. 4-6" fell in SouthEast Virginia

Those purple bands are whipping into us here and NJ

Snow in Florida. Man, that's just crazy.

Coming down decently here in NW Connecticut. Just missed a band that's currently strapped across the state.

Classic set up. There's always multiple pieces of the puzzle to create an event but this is the setup in the upper heights to make these coastal NorEaster's happen. Best to view a day before but still relates.

The shaded color are current temps at 5000'. Note the warmth near the Storm off the coast. Trough looks negative too but I wont get into that.

4:30-8:30am Loop with metars.

Rain continues on the MA islands.

Blizzard like conditions here.

Eastern Long Island getting hammered now.

You'll start to see the pivot later and the sharp backedge in Eastern PA.

Classic rotation of Atlantic moisture driving into Arctic air.

BTW -- Snow not as fluffy as previous ones this year. Seems normal. Not cement like.

Cambium, do you sleep when it's blizzarding?!

We ended up with MAYBE an inch here just west of Raleigh, but that hasn't stopped them from trying to plow my street this morning, they've made about 8 passes so far. I can see ice under the snow layer. It's still below freezing but the sun is starting to do its work.

I'm confident the temps in all of the affected areas will increase dramatically very quickly since we have Global Warming to help out.

Splash over already happening on the South Shore of MA, high tide is about 2:40 away. That about 5 feet left of tide and another few feet of surge to go.
