Why is Nome Alaska not as cold as Changchun China, Magadan Siberia, Fort McMurray CAnada, or Saquenay Quebec

They are all lower latitude. Magadan is right by coast. Fort McMurray, Changchun, and Saquenay as I am typing this are in negative fahrenheit degrees.

Please explain. I know there are many factors in causing temperature. I just want to know what they are regards to these four cities.

Have you looked at the climate tables? Magadan and Nome have very similar climates, Nome even has a colder record low.

Now Changchun and Fort McMurray are inland so they are very continental so it's not a good comparison.

Fort Mcmurray, Saguenay, and Changchun are inland, and I'd believe that the fact that nome is situated on the western shore of a continent (as opposed to eastern) also comes into play.

Interesting thing about Magadan is that its winters are very warm by Siberian standards, but become extreme very quickly as you get farther from the shore. Seymchan, 300 miles north, has 40F colder avg lows:

That's because the coastline is very mountainous

Changchun is much closer to ocean than McMurray though.
