Oslo has a bit warmer spring [snow in the interior + cold ocean slows warmup] but a fast autumn cool down. Halifax is rainier and has more rain days; but with the higher sunshine, I'd got with Halifax
Both have great climates so it's kind of hard to choose!
I will have to go with Halifax since it's rainier, has a cooler summer, and its climate is overall a bit more to my preferences than Oslo but it's close.

Agree. Very good match up, even with a 16 degree latitude difference,
which is like the difference between Boston and Miami.
Halifax has better temps overall...much better autumn...warmer summer nights too,
only negative is cooler april/may...especially weirdly cool may.
Halifax is much sunnier...1963 vs 1668 avg annual sunshine hours,
Oslo is very dreary in winter, and being at 60N doesn’t help.
Records are similar ...35C/-29C Oslo....37C/-29C Halifax
Precipitation bigger difference...803 mm Oslo....1314 mm Halifax,
but as mentioned before rain is heavier in Halifax, less drizzle,
more snow in winter too.
Another cool battle would be Oslo vs Stockholm vs Helsinki
or all of those vs Halifax.
I will go with Oslo for less snowfall and better Springs.
Don’t care about the better Halifax falls?
Funny how people fixate on the springs and don’t care the temps fall fast in the fall
(no pun intended)...like most of Scandinavia/Nordics, ditto for Russia,
Moscow being a poster child for poor chilly autumns, november already being winter.
Days in spring are much longer, that's why weather is more important in spring than fall.
Good point but I don’t like summer disappearing too fast and cold cloudy conditions
coming too fast .
For example this fall was great in my area, 25/15 september, 19/10 october,
was above normal and really nice, then a normal 8/1 november felt chilly but still ok.
Springs being a bit cool are still ok because I’ve been acclimatized to cold winter temps
so any “warmer” temps feel balmy (exact opposite of how I feel in fall).
