So many people want warm, sunny, boring weather year round that they see fit to seek it in early spring when the beach weather isn't that great. Look at a climate graph for Florida and you'll see that March is far from the best month for beach weather.

Let's take Panama City, FL, a popular destination, for example in March. Average high 72 F / 22 C, low 51 F / 11 C, 5.68" precipitation. That means that nights in the 40s are frequent.

I went to Panama City in late May 2011. Average high 84 F / 29 C, low 65 F / 18 C. 3.08" precipitation. That's IDEAL beach weather.

My suggestion for beach lovers in March: You can go now and have a so-so time, or go in May and have a great time. Late September/October also looks like a great time. I would recommend May for most people, but the late September/October period for those with sensitive skin due to the weaker UV at that time of year.
Miami has normal highs 79-82 in March and normal lows 63-67. So South FL has good beach weather in March

VORTEX OVER HUDSON BAY DEEPENS THE EASTERN U.S. TROUGH INTO
NEXT WEEK WITH BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES. A series of shortwaves
rotate around the main vortex (resulting in Cold FROPA`s).

That Vortex is forcing the Jet Stream south over the U.S which is not allowing a ridge or the SubTropicalRidge to pop north and stay sustained. This means there are more cooler periods than warmer ones next 2 weeks.

A piece of that Vortex even drops to southern Hudson Bay and guess what that means.. More cold and snow chances in April for Northern Ohio Valley and Northeast. play the loop and watch it all evolve.

Mist...Drizzle....Clouds for days on end... Oh yeah, Spring. At least it's warm..ish. 50°F

Not impressed about this warmth this week but is a nice break.....

So looking ahead I'm still waiting for "spring" and those double digit (C°) 850mb temps...

All I see is this........

Canadian... Arctic Blast. April 7th

GFS..Arctic Blast April 7th

Euro...Arctic Blast...April 8th... lagging behind and slower but still on the map.

And what happens with an Arctic Blast in April?

While there remains decent day-to-day variability in the model
guidance for Wednesday and beyond, the overall pattern of an upper
level trough over the Great Lakes will favor the potential for some
snow, including the possibly of late season lake effect snow.
Speaking of lake effect, the latest lake effect snow event of record
in our 23-season archive was April 4-8, 2007,
which remains the only
event solely in the month of April. So while a lake effect event
this time of year may be rare, it would not be unprecedented.

3:30pm.. If you're in NYC...

Drive 3 hours south and you hit 60s.
Drive 6 hours and you hit 80s.

Well, Rochester, NY did break 50°F today for the first time this month, so it managed to avoid the fate of March of 2001 after all (Highest temp that March was 49°F)
