Meanwhile here it looks like it could get quite hot by this weekend with strong ridge... TWC calling for temps around 100F and NWS showing upper 90's. Hoping to get a good t-storm this week beforehand.

Incredible? Dews look about the same as the second half as last week, maybe a little lower. Mostly mid 50s with a bit of low 50s. Or did you not get dry air last week?

Meanwhile the west will endure yet another warm winter with no cold/snow records set.

You Western folks never had the severity nor the duration of the cold blasts that us Midwesterners and Easterners have had to contend with anyway.

Still no rain and under 2" total so far this month. Lets hope that energy digs down south and gives me some needed lift and rain. Was 70 miles offshore fishing today and not even much rain offshore but tiny pop corn showers here and there.

Yes we have, just not recently.

Happy Valley - Goose Bay reached 34.3°C (93.7°F) today, 1°F warmer than here today. Almost a record there. Observations

big blocking high over the Atlantic; jet stream was further to the north than usual

you could see it was pulling a line of hot air from the 850 hPa map, 850 hPa temperatures 19-22°C over central Labrador just like New England today

but the GFS shows temperatures only in the low 80s today afternoon there, 10-12°F cooler than New England, which obviously didn't happen. from same model run showing hot temperatures aloft. Weird. I know the GFS has accuracy issues, but for less than half a day later it should be spot on; it takes current observations

Spoiler

Just got a pop corn shower with maybe .15" so a few of them would add up. Gulf is starting to see more action so maybe there is hope this week or weekend.

Greetings from Kefallonia Greece. Temps have been between 29-33C on the island so far this past week. A bit cooler up in the village where we are staying.

Athens and the valleys if Greece up to 37C. With talk of reaching 40C in the coming days.
