Bastardi thinks after a "bounce back" warm up in early February, cold returns. GFS supports it. So does CFSv2 but not the Euro

I was just thinking about that. Some people do, but it's not common. I remember back in the early 80s when we had similar episodes of cold my dad used to wake up in the middle of the night and start our cars and just have them run for a while.

Nice Spring day in early February coming up.

Latest Euro max temp for next Monday.

70s in the south, 60s in Ohio Valley & Mid Atlantic, 50s in Southern New England.

I can see more flags flying out there.

You don't get snowstorms with the Jet Stream pushed north like this. lol. Southeast has multiple days of 70s per Euro.

Well it’s -32.5, so a tie.

If we were still using the old wind chill formula, we would be in the -70F range tomorrow and Thursday

A little more snow later on today

Current temps 1F at ORD and IKK, 2F at MDW. -2F at the National Weather Service in Romeoville. Wind chills in the -20F range... Not rising at all through out the day.

We had some flash freezing last night after rain yesterday afternoon followed by temperatures falling from 40 degrees to 18 degrees in the course of about 3 hours. But most roads were in decent shape this morning. Definitely worse as you get north of Indianapolis. Not terrible today, relatively speaking, with a current temp of 12 (wind chill -5) going for a high of 14. Tonight is when the deep freeze happens as our low drops to -12 with wind chills in the -25 to -35 range. Schools in session as normal today but I'm expecting them to be closed tomorrow.

Wow it is incredible the cold coming to Chicago, that would obliterate our all time record low temp.

latest forecast per our local tv weather presenter. Bad enough with the typical continental up and down nonsense:
