Northern hemisphere snow is pushing record levels and eastern Canada and the us are off to a quick start, combine that with cold ssts and you have the recipe for a delayed spring.
Dont you wish we can step into the future and look back? We probably would be amazed at whats happening with Eastern Canada and U.S at this moment in time (past decade).... nobody knows.. Is it just the beginning of something big or just a phase we have always experienced??

Funny how I said #NoSpring back in March knowing winter has been lasting till April past few yrs. I was joking but it happened again. Then in August I said watch it be #NoFall again. Little did I know it would happen again. September and 1st half of October was super warm and humid. Then winter hits mid November. Now December coming up so we skipped Fall too.

Past two years have seen late melt outs of increasingly higher snow totals in eastern Canada! I’m pretty sad, gonna be a big difference in temps between eastern and central NC...my hometown is at 50, raleigh just 20 Miles West mid 40s. Everything along and east of 95 pushing or in 60s then coast pushing or in 70s. Been that way past few days! Normally the difference is noticeable west of Raleigh but the cold has pushed further east making Raleigh the line.

I do think though this is the beginning of something big, low solar, increasing co2, Gulf Stream warm, AMO should transition fully negative within next 5-10 years if not earlier, and the arctic sea and I think we got some interesting times coming up for the eastern us.

Brief snow flurries about half an hour ago in Auburn, Alabama

Highs were initially projected to reach the mid-40s, but it looks like we won't even get out of the mid-30s.

And while you guys have been reaping the benefits of whatever has changed over the past few years, the west's climate has deteriorated at an alarming rate. We need some equilibrium here...and fast. EVen the highest peaks around here are still bare....as this is an El Nino year, November and December are usually very wet and sufficiently cool enough to allow for snowfall for the mountains.

The way this season is going so far, this could end up even worse than the winter of 2014-15. Just when you think you know how low your winters can get, you're suddenly hit with something even worse. At the time, most folks around here thought 2009-10 (olympic winter) was the warmest our climate was capable of during the months of Jan or Feb. We were all proved wrong in 2014-15 and - as stated earlier - look to be proven wrong thrice in the coming months.

I'm dreaming of a cold Christmas.

A persistently cold winter would be great, but hey, I'll take a front-loaded winter too, provided people on the West Coast don't mind a back-loaded winter.

Keep the cold and snow coming for Eastern Canada and Southern Ontario. Loving this early start to Winter and hoping El Nino doesn't do too much damage to our season this year.

Only Super Nino's and east based Nino's would bring milder conditions for eastern US/Canada. Modoki's usually are big ticket winters especially for the Southern US and East Coast.

I like the sound of this. "This is just the beginning"
