But how bout broadleaf evergreens in Austin, or palm trees like livistona or date palms? How bout citrus? Citrus nor palms like up and down winter temps either. I doubt any plants like to be stressed going from 70f one week to 20F the next.
Camellia's are broadleaf evergreens and they do well. The park next to me has a lot of them and they never die off.
In Southern Louisiana you can grow satsumas. In fact my favorite rum (the world over) is Satsuma Rum from the Bayou Rum Distillery in Hackberry, La. It is the best rum on this planet. My late aunt had a grow of satsuma trees in Welsh, La which is near Hackberry where the satsumas mainly grow.
By the way, if you ever like rum, stop by that distillery. Yummy!
This shows you how "deep" the growing of citrus is in southern Louisiana. Oranges no, but satsumas yes and by the way, they are far better than oranges.
Extreme cold is what he lives for this time of year; my instinct tells me that no duration of extreme cold would ever be good enough for him, never mind the fact that his location got a ton of snow recently whereas just 150 miles to the south(Indianapolis area), there has been very little snow(we only got the extreme cold here in Indy), mind you, this winter thus far has been the worst damn start to a winter I have seen since at least 2014
He was cryen about a cold spring if i remember right.
Oh come on George, did you really expect the next 5 months to have every single day and week be below average? Come on the pattern has been great for you for over 2 months and that doesn’t look to change even with a minor break which mind you will be plain old average from what I can tell.
The pattern wasn't great for me as I like my October to be warmer than average and at least the first half of November before I hear up for winter mode. Now December arrives and we will have 10-14 days above average which likely means any precipitation will be in the form of rain. See for us other than January, just a little above average can mean the difference between snow or rain. I really hate cold rainy winter days. Much rather it be snow.
Just keep the split flow coming with the low lat storms and upper level energy every week. I can deal with tornado's and 2" of rain every week until the end of March.
