April closed out unofficially 1.1 degrees above normal with a monthly average of 54.1F. Highest temp was 81F set on the 11th, the only day of the month to top 80F but we did have 9 days top 70F. Our coldest temp was 24 on the 1st, marking the only day of the month that dropped below freezing. Compare it to the cold April we had last year when it dropped below freezing on half of the nights of the month. our 4.96 inches of rain put us 1.15 inches above normal and we had measurable rainfall on half of the days of month as well. Now we enter May which is typically our wettest month of the year by far, averaging 5.05 inches of rain, a good half inch more than our second wettest month of the year. We'll see what this year holds!
Today: Showers and thunderstorms becoming likely this afternoon. High 77F (25C).

Tomorrow: Showers and thunderstorms likely. High 74F (23.3C).
Today's Normal High: 68F (20C).
Today's Normal Low: 48F (8.9C).
Record High: 89F (31.7C) set in 1942.
Record Low: 29F (-1.7C) set in 1963.
It seems like you always suspect a colder than normal summer season Chicagogeorge, perhaps if you suspect a hot summer then maybe it might just come to fruition.
There is a legitimate chance that I won't hit 80F until June if I don't hit 80 today
Way too hot already in the Ohio Valley, mid 80s yesterday with blazing sun- will be thankful for more clouds again, even though you can't buy sunlight here in the winter.
Currently 83F with a dew point of 45F, with sunny skies.
It is supposed to hit 85F for the high today.

There's like no middle. I just want sun and 60s or 70s. Seems like now it's going to get easier to hit 80s with sun. lol.
1pm. It's now 48hrs straight without sun here. How long will we go? We'll see.
Sun and 80s up Western PA today. Clouds and 50s in Philly. Wow almost 90 in West Virginia! Like a world away

I’ve been fortunate to have sunny 70F days for the past 2 weeks, for most days. I feel for you being stuck under endless clouds. Hope that pattern breaks soon.

If the models weren't showing what they're showing above then I wouldn't suspect it. I'm just aware of what a weak/moderate El Nino usually means for Midwest summers. I can't just wishcast a hot summer even if I wanted it. I have to look at the models and analogs, and right now they aren't looking to good for a hot summer. But who knows.
Accuweather has this

Midwest, central Plains
After enduring heavy rain and snow over the past several months, the Midwest and central Plains will see a gradual transition to summer’s heat.
“Soil moisture is a big deal, it can dictate temperatures and how high they can get,” Pastelok said.
In these locations, the moisture will help to hold back the heat into the first half of the season.
“After that, it will depend on how frequently storms come,” he said.
It’s predicted that temperatures in the region will average near to below normal for the season as a whole.
