Well it's been a few days since I posted. I've been outside nearly non-stop for the past 3 days (Spring Break). A feature of the weather the past few days has been the dry weather, bone dry and drier than I'm used to. It's dry all the way down to the Gulf Coast. The dewpoints were in the upper 20's Friday and Saturday and then 30 on Sunday & Monday. The temps were in the low 60's on Saturday, mid 60's on Sunday, and lower 70's Monday. The nighttime lows are in the low to mid 40's because of the very dry air.
I have been working on my sprinkling system the past few days. Since March has been very dry I need them to be fully functioning and a few heads were not working correctly. So, I was digging up my yard the past few days, found that some of the lines were entangled in roots, in some cases penetrated by roots. So I was sitting in the yard with gloves on to try to protect my hands a bit from all the digging. Jeans and t-shirt on Saturday, shorts and t-shirt on Sunday and Monday. On Monday I was in the full sun and had to apply sunscreen to my legs as the sun was extremely intense (72 with 30 degree dewpoint, not a cloud in the sky).
Now I have the irrigation system sorted so I can report back. I'll post a picture of a week ago when trees were just budding and today when all trees are almost fully leafed on the photo thread. Spring has definitely sprung, although it's slightly below normal for the season (especially at night), the weather is the first long stretch of consistently sunny and dry weather we've had in a while where I could work outside. Digging burns a lot of calories, over 1000, not sure if that's an accurate reading.
And the prolonged below average temps will be the story for April, May....just like last year.
Perhaps if everyone would stop griping and complaining about this God forsaken cold weather, maybe then the Midwest and northeast could experience a proper spring this year.

No complaints up here. I drove with my top down for the first time this year. Mid 40s but felt like low 50s with the intense sun.

I tried reversing jinxing, nothing works. I haven't even bothered looking ahead anymore. Just taking it day by day and trying not to rant.

A true Minnesotian. Top down while in the 40s.

Never saw any real cold this year so far. At least it was cloudy all day and stayed in the 60's. Never even got .005" of rain as it all missed me. Gonna be a dry spring and summer for me.
