Who would of though as we enter January this would be the biggest snowstorm so far? Could it be the only?

Sad Stat of the Month.

Scranton, PA normal is 7.4". Only 4 of last 117 yrs had no measurable snow in December.
Worcester, MA normal is 14.4" only 0.1" this month
Hartford, CT normal is 7.4", only 0.2" fell this month. Only 4 other years had less.

8 noteworthy storms (<1005mb) in the Month of December 2018. 2 were suppressed south and 6 stayed west of the Appalachians.




Not much snow across Lower 48 but the biggest snow story was the Texas to NC/Virginia snowstorm Dec 8-10

0 cm here so far. Some snow is forecast for the end of January, including 5 cm on 28th.

0"/cm here also. I see this winter as likely to be "back loaded", with the stratospheric warming under way, perhaps a cold February.

Accu weather says only 1 cm of snow for Sheffield in February, and temps slightly above average.

Season Snowfall totals as of January 5th, 2019.

Roswell, NM (5.8") has more snow than Pittsburgh (5.6")

El Paso, TX (2.3") has more snow than Boston (0.2")

Lubbock, TX (10.0) has more than Worcester, MA (9.3")

Raleigh, NC (8.9") has more snow than Hartford, CT (8.2")

Greenville,SC(4.3") has more snow than Philly (3.9")

Tulsa,OK (1.6") has more snow than Washington DC (1.4")

Concordia, KS (15.9") has more snow than Albany, NY (13.7")
