The meteorologists are crazy with delight over this storm. Hopefully no one dies.
Here in Kansas City, "good luck measuring the snow" was what I heard, due to the wind-- 3"-8" depending on where you are. The snow won't fall until noon, and then we get 1-2" per hour for about six hours, with thunder and lightning possible. The last few winters have been really dry. That changes this year.
The bad part, beyond the snow, is that the temperatures will crash to near zero for the next few nights. It's not even December! If this happened in January, that would be a temperature of -10.
This is typical weather for the Midwest. KC is just too southern most of the time and lacks winter. To not have more than 3” of snowfall from one storm in over four years is completely laughable by northern standards.
Will County appears to be the cutoff for the heavier/lighter snow line.
Yes, but that cut off line could easily shift 25 miles north of south.
As it stands now, blizzard to near blizzard conditions for a good chunk of the metro area. Could be snow mixed with ice for me. Mostly rain in Northwest Indiana
Look close and you'll see 4-6" of snow fell in areas of Kansas and 10-15" in southern Iowa on the ground this afternoon. Fresh Deep snowpack. November 25th.
It's coming Chicago. Currently they are reporting rain. Should start to change after 7pm I think.
NAM has the storm right there at midnight. Perfect for Blizzard conditions in Chicago. Too bad they started as rain.
Widespread Blizzard Warnings. in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.

Glad that this early season behemoth of a winter storm isn’t going to affect Indianapolis, at least not with heavy snow or ice, I’m not ready for this sort of weather, it feels too early to see this sort of crazy weather
