Cannon Beach has similar weather, very often foggy and overcast in summer and feels cold around 18c with the wind blowing.

August has an average high of 20C in Cannon Beach, which is warm and there is also plenty of sunshine.

With the wind it sure ain’t warm. Try going to the Oregon Coast in a t-shirt and shorts.

I would do, and I would find it pleasant with the strong sunshine.

The water here is also much colder than where you are.

That means you just don't go in the sea, then you don't get chilly!

I don’t think you are aware of how windy it is on the coast here. There is a reason coastal Oregon and Washington has so little population. The houses take a beating from wind and rain.

Strong sunshine would cancel it out

If you say so. Canon beach is the most popular beach out here and even on the hottest days in the middle of the summer you will not see many people there except to take pictures. You will rarely see anyone swimming or sun bathing. I remember seeing someone trying to setup a little area with an umbrella last time I was there...that lasted about 2 minutes before it was blown away and guy was chasing it down the beach.

Really? Beaches in Southern England have similar temps with less sunshine and are packed in summer. If it's raining then obviously there's no one there.
