Based on Razza94's thread: //www.city-data.com/forum/weath...re-ranges.html

Basically the same thing but now we compare the ranges withing months.

For example: in Esquel January has the largest range.

Record high: 38.6°C (101.5°F)
Record low: -5.4°C (22.3°F)
Range = 44°C (72.2°F).

Really curious to know if someone lives in a climate that has experienced a larger range.

Interesting that your month with the largest range is in summer. Most Northern Hemisphere climates have their largest ranges in the winter or spring. I think most Northern Hemisphere continental climates will have a much larger monthly range than Esquel.

For Edmonton, the largest range is March:

Maximum = 24.2°C
Minimum = -42.7°C
Range = 66.9°C

In fact, 9 out 12 months in Edmonton have a higher monthly range than Esquel; only June, July, and August do not.

Man, this goes to show that I rarely look at record temperatures when I look at a weatherbox.

I thought that continental climates only had a high range when considering all months but apparently they also have high ranges within months.

Trondheim can't quite compete, largest range 38.6C in Feb.

Røros, inland and at altitude, has larger ranges than Esquel in 8 months of the year. Largest range for Røros is in January: 60.7C. One of the largest ranges in Scandinavia.

Nearest relevant weather station Norrköping has a 47.2C amplitude in February:

Record warm: 13.7C
Record cold: -33.5C

January-April all squeeze over 40C.

Melbourne Airport is 42°C exactly: 4.8°C to 46.8°C.

The city itself is similar, maybe 0.1-0.2°C less.

Not bad at all for an Oceanic climate.

The only other month above 40°C is December (40.3°C): 3.5°C to 43.8°C.

The correct formula is: F= 32+1.8*C, isn't it?

nothing exciting here

39.5c in January (-18.8 / 20.7)
39.3c in February (-14.4 / 24.9)
36.7c in March (-9.7 / 27)
36.4c in December (-13.4 / 23)

We can't make it to 40 apparently. Also, the winter months are the most likely to produce this kind of range, and the lows are something of another time. So just wait until we reach 25c in January I guess.
