AC here it's not a luxury. Every single home built after 1960 was built with central air conditioning. It used to be a luxury in Greece too but now all my relatives have AC.
Sun is finally coming out now
Latest GFS isn't nearly as cool here as it was in yesterday's runs for next week.. I heard Joe Bastardi saying that he thinks there will be "endless summer" for much of the US through the month of September. Hope he is right
A/C is standard in Tennessee as well. I don't think I've ever been in a building without A/C (unless it was some small outbuilding or something), and you can't sell a car without A/C here, people expect working A/C even in a 20 year old, $1,000 clunker. My house even has separate HVAC (heating/ventilation/air conditioning) units for the upstairs and downstairs, and all the cars we've ever had have had A/C.
So many sub 80F highs in the forecast; very unusual for August. It's so beautiful I might just cry (just kidding of course; 70s is still too damn hot but certainly an improvement over the current drivel).
After such a dry month and a half, we finally got some rain! Although, that rain came with some severe weather. From midnight Saturday to midnight last night, we got about an inch and a quarter of rain from two storms. The first came through a bit after 1AM Sunday morning. No real wind but crazy lightning and it knocked the power out for a while, which woke the kids up. Then yesterday evening we got hit again around 7:30 when a storm that had a history of 80 mph winds and ping pong ball size hail struck. No hail at our house but it got windy. Again some crazy lightning and almost an inch of rain in about 20 minutes. Power went out once again but didn't stay out long. I haven't heard of much damage around Indy from the storm other than a couple house fires from lightning strikes and power outages. One stoplight at one of the interstate interchanges in our city was blown off its cable in the wind and fell to the street. After that, we had a beautiful sunset and very bright rainbow.
Today will be near 90 again and dewpoints in the 70s. Going to be miserable with another chance for storms this afternoon.
