Whew, thank goodness, we are in for several days of rain! It's been a long, hot, dry September here in NE Texas. Hopefully we have seen the last of 90 degree days but I am not being lulled into a false sense of security!

Dont you live in central Florida? Most people move there specifically to have summer all the time. Its not a bug, its a feature.

That's colder than I've been this fall. We've been having lows of 66-69F this September every day but one, and that day had a low of 72.
At least we have some chances of rain from Thursday on.

It's a bug compared to the 1970's and 1980's when we had falls and winters. Not 90's well into Nov and only one day below 31f where i live since 2011. We used to see 19 to 25f winter after winter in the 80's.

Tampa average temp for January (30 year average) is 16c (62f). Thats not highs, thats 24h average. That’s comparable to May in Chicago. Sure, theres the potential for occasional cold air intrusions - heck snow has been observed as far down as the Miami suburbs in extreme cases. But that’s the exception. If getting below freezing temps is important to you, you are in the wrong place.

I think your memory is shot. I grew up in southeast Louisiana in the 70's & 80's and we rarely got below freezing and extremely rarely got below 25. Your area has warmer winters than SELA.

I'm not sure exactly where in SE LA you lived, but during the winters from 1970-1989 New Orleans got below 25F in 12 out of 20 years. That's sort of uncommon, but I wouldn't call it extremely rare.

Get real. You better check the winters of 81-82,83,84 and 85. My memory is like a super computer and i remember every temp for every day since the later 70's. I live and eat and sleep weather, this is this why i know more about it than anyone and can call the weather months or years ahead.

Just check the Tampa temps on them winters i listed.

So you're saying that the Tampa area got into the upper teens and lower 20's often? Are you really saying that? I am real, and I don't count a single nights lows for a few years out of the past 40 as an average for winter cold.
