I think in Europe "tropical nights" means a minimum temperature of 68F/20C. In the northern US, we don't really use that term, but 70F/21C lows here are kind of the benchmark
20C nighttime lows are pretty rare in Europe north of the Alps. Daytime highs well above 30C tend to be associated with stable high pressure systems..which tend to feature clear night skies and fairly low dewpoints. Take Berlin during the recent heatwave, they barely touched 20C on June 26, didn't get close on June 30 in spite of a daytime high of 38.5C.
Now London is somewhat more humid (but less so than one would perhaps expect), but if they didnt get to it last Sunday with a high around 34C (and they were well short of it with a low under 15C), it'll be hard to get there.
Usually to get to the 20C low you need hot, muggy air with ample overnight cloud cover but no rain. It can happen, but you can easily go a summer without it, too.
If you mean 20C then probably not, if you mean 18C then maybe maximum 5 this year. Its mostly between 12-16 and doesn't budge.
