Weather forum posting guidelines

1.) No cussing, swearing, or other vulgar language. Your post will be deleted and an infraction may be issued.

2) Posting of copyright images or weather graphics, from any source, is prohibited. All images and weather graphics will be assumed to have a valid copyright and will be deleted. If you post an image or weather graphic where you hold the copyright, or one in the public domain, you must supply the hyperlink source, (so that the moderators can check the validity of the copyright status). Otherwise, it will be assumed to be copyright and will be deleted.

Images and weather graphics from government sources are in the public domain and may be posted. However, again supply the hyperlink for verification by a moderator. Repeated violations will result in infractions being issued to the offender and possible loss of membership at City-Data. Please report offending images as the moderators cannot read every post of every thread.

3.) Only one “Climate Battle” per fortnight per member is allowed. Any additional “Climate Battle” threads above this limit will be deleted and an infraction for spamming the forum may be issued.

4.) Only one Poll of any type per week per member is allowed. Any additional Poll threads above this limit will be deleted and an infraction for spamming the forum may be issued. Revival of polls that have been inactive for more than one year is prohibited. And responses to a revived poll will be deleted and an infraction for the member who revived the poll may be issued.

5.) Only one "Rate the climate..." thread per week per member is allowed. Any additional Rating threads above this limit will be deleted and an infraction for spamming the forum may be issued.

6.) "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" threads acceptable as long at they discuss the technicalities of the subject. Once the thread becomes political, it will be closed and/or deleted.

These parameters subject to modification depending on the consensus of the “regular” forum members. Please contact the moderator via DM if you have any suggestions or comments.

Copyrighted Material - Instead of copying-and-pasting articles, photos, or other material you find on the Internet, you should be posting links to those articles. Posting a snippet from the article and then the link is the appropriate way to post. Repeat copyright infringers may have their account terminated and their access to the Site and any Services revoked.

No posting of copyright images and graphics, even if the copyright holder gives permission. The only exception is if you personally own the copyright. In that case, you must state that you hold the copyright...every time you post a copyrighted image or graphic.

City-Data realizes that this will be a major inconvenience as Weather and Climate is a very intensely graphic discipline. The work-around is to provide a brief synopsis and a hyperlink to the image or graphic.

Images and graphics from government sources are not normally copyrighted and may be posted without restriction but, MUST include a link to the source. It's not just a City-Data rule, it is the law.
