Current temp departure for the hour.

More well below normal areas than well above but wow in New England... almost 70° in Boston is 12 above normal while the 43° in Oklahoma City is 24 below normal.

66F in Providence is 8 above normal. Note the NJ, NY, CT coasts how they aren't as above normal as the interior but still above.

68°F in Albany is 13 above normal

36°F in Lubbock right now which is 34 below normal for the hour..
30° in Amarillo is 36 below normal.

finally some rain and cooler weather today, but still in the 60s (F) mostly. 16c dewpoint at the moment. Nice warm weekend is coming, but fall will only truly arrive in the middle of next week with the first highs in the 50s.

However, in a truly northern italian fashion, it's only the highs that will plummet while the lows will remain quite mild, so a bunch of 10/13c days are forecast, nothing much exciting.

KC residents love to complain about winter, they have no clue what actual Midwest winters are like with 50 inches or more of snow every year.

Wish I was in Amarillo.

Some reports. October or December?

4" of snow 5 miles W of Amarillo
2" of snow in Borger
2" of snow in Fritch
2" of snow in Dumas
1.5" of snow in Canyon
1" in Dalhart

Record snowfall this early in the season or Top 5 at least. We'll see what the NWS office reports.

^^^^^^^

Hmmm interesting I’ve heard that most woolly worms in Indiana closer to central Indiana have been reported to be mostly brown, which would mean Indianapolis could expect a milder winter season than average. I hope that prognostication is right- I’ve had it to the roof with all the severe arctic outbreaks Indianapolis has seen since 2014.......

Look at that warm ground. The sun angle must have changed.

Impressive loop past 4hrs. Those purple bands are dropping heavy snow! Tropical Moisture feeding into Cold air. Beautiful.

Look at those lightning icons in the snow. ThunderSnow

92f in Tampa today and another heat record broken. I can see these temps going on all thru the winter with no end.

I did say this would be the year of no fall.
