CFSv2 has been doing a very poor job lately even with only a 10 day lead time the model really stinks

Major cold blast to end October. NWS Chicago won't let you see updated daily temps and monthly averages do to fiscal constraints so I had to download forms from NCDC which only have data to the 20th. At anyrate MDW had an average max/mi of 67/47F and ORD 64/46F but I bet that will drop considerably.

Amarillo, TX In the books. Yesterdays 2.6" snowfall makes it the 8th snowiest October on record. More interestingly only 2 other years had more snow before October 25th. 3rd snowiest for the period 10/1-10/24. I knew it wasn't common to see what I was seeing.

First 40’s of the season expected tonight in Tucson. First 30’s of the season look likely by early next week. Nice

Well Maine has a (relatively) warm ocean next to it. The Upper Plains have seen a lot of snow this year. The Panhandle of Texas has nothing moderating it from arctic blasts. Even though we are 500 miles to the SE of the Panhandle (more than the distance from Boston to DC to give you a relative picture of why they can have vastly different weather than us), we are 44 this morning on the way to 60 under sun, cold for us. The heater finally kicked on the first time this season.

People tell me "I heard about the snowstorm in Amarillo, I thought Texas was supposed to have a mild winter." Then I respond, that's like having a snowstorm in New Hampshire but rain in DC. That's about the same distance but people can't comprehend unless I explain it to them that way. Texas is a BIG state and the Panhandle weather resembles Oklahoma more than the rest of Texas.

I’ll bet you $5 Tucson sees 40’s tonight (Check NWS)

For next week I’ve been looking at models. I could easily be wrong about next week though.

44 and overcast here. Heater is on (70F) and will remain that way. They predict sun to come out this afternoon but I'm not sure it will break through. If the sun comes out it will hit 60, if not, 55.

71/47 tomorrow under full sun. 80/52 under full sun on Sunday, same on Monday. Tuesday/Wednesday features rain and a cold front coming through, then a general cooling trend. Halloween looks to be chilly.
