So far the Warm Blob hasn't kept the PNW warm this fall, which is a change from previous patterns.

In upper 40's with drizzle all day in Austin. Horrible weather but my heater is keeping me warm. Had to crank the heat in my truck at full blast for 10 minutes before it warmed up. We need the rain though. Clearing out tomorrow and warmer.

Mid 60's and sunny for the US Grand Prix, I'll be there!

Maybe it has to do with Denver being at higher elevation. Also, it could be cloudy in Denver and sunny in Edmonton. But I'm not really sure, and that's a good question.

While still very impressive, that record is just for the contiguous US. It's gotten colder in Alaska in October.

It is sunny in Denver and cloudy/mostly cloudy in Edmonton, so the clouds keep it warmer. When it's completely sunny here in winter it's very cold usually.

Just catching up now. I think 3 reasons. 2 & 3 relate

1. Snowpack
2. The core of the cold is not near Edmonton
3. I drew the Jet too far south, look at the orange lines (upper heights) they point north more so Edmonton really isnt inside the trough

Nice catch
