NOAA showing drought expansion across a good part of the SE US in October.

Hoping that maybe the warmth is overstated in the forecast below.

^^^^^^^^^^^

0.02" of rain for September 2019 in Nashville, TN. And they're saying we're going to have MORE drought in October? I can deal with a warm October, but this drought has to go.

Through August 27 we were having one of the wettest years on record. Then the rain just... vanished.

With 99 F / 37 C forecast today and tomorrow, we may end up having a year where the hottest day is in... OCTOBER? WOW.

The hottest day of the summer itself was 97 F / 36 C. September itself had five whole days above that. If this forecast holds, that will be seven in September/October. The hottest day of summer itself will only be the 8th hottest day of the entire year.

2019 is the record holder for 90+ F / 32+ C temperatures outside of summer. 33 days total so far; 10 days in May and 23 in September. There will be at least 3 more in October for a total of 36+.

We're at 95 days of 90+ for the whole year. Record is 96 in 1954. Record = gone. We might hit 100. Oct. 1-3 are forecast as numbers 96, 97, and 98 and Oct. 5 is forecast to hit 88 F / 31 C so it's in play for 99.

This is also the record warmest September by average high: 93.2 F / 34.0 C. This shatters the 1925 record of 91.4 F / 33.0 C.

1925's still got 2019 beat on average, 81.3 F / 27.4 C vs 80.4 F / 26.9 C; no other year has exceeded 78.0 F / 25.6 C, and no other post-1925 year has exceeded 77.3 F / 25.1 C (that was 2018)

All 30 days of September 2019 had above-average temperatures, ranging from +1.0 F / 0.6 C on the 5th to +18.1 F / 10.1 C on the 30th; the month average was +8.9 F / 4.9 C.

The coolest high temperature of September 2019 was a balmy 82 F / 28 C, the warmest coolest day for a non-summer month ever. (The old record was September 1911, with 80 F / 27 C, then September 1998 with 77 F / 25 C).

The coolest low wasn't as impressive, but at 57 F / 14 C, it was the warmest minimum for a September since 1925, and in fourth place overall out of 146 years (1874-2019).

I'm still waking up to open doors and windows and warm enough for shorts...

Can you find the snowpack in Montana and Alberta this morning? Deep and Fresh. This is in F°. Temps, not wind chills.

This mornings temps and Upper Height pattern. Jet still dipping in the west. Been dipping out there for past 4-5 weeks. That's why my pattern got drier here since end of August.

Great Falls max temp yesterday was 31° (33 below normal). 2nd coldest September max temp on record.
12° low was record low for the date.
The 9.7" & 9.6" of snow were records for the date... & obviously month combined.
19-33 below normal past 3 days with max temp. Normal is mid 60s and its been in the 30s!
