Woke up to thunderstorms, that's rare for October and especially 5am. 1/2 inch of rain already, which is the most we've had in about 2 months. Nice conveyor belt of precip https://radar.weather.gov/Conus/southeast_loop.php
Ducked out for a second and MAN that rain is COLD. Must be falling from way up there.
After this cool stretch which will last into most of this week, the CFSv2 is still advertising a return to above normal temps that supposedly will last through the first week of November. Lets see because the typhoon recurving now after hitting Japan might change that pattern.
The cool sunny weather is nice, but I already hate the low humidity. My eyes actually feel dry. A small preview of the cold dry wasteland weather in store for the next 5-6 months in the Midwest.
Got down to 49F here last night, a little cooler than expected (last time it was below 50F was April 21). Gulf moisture supposed to come with warm front by tomorrow. Could be some heavy rainfall tomorrow and Tuesday, which should help to alleviate the dryness that has developed the past few weeks.
Maybe the possibility of severe weather next weekend.
From SPC:
Quote:
Severe potential may increase during the weekend as deeper
boundary-layer moisture spreads north across much of the CONUS from
the central/southern Plains to the Ohio Valley as a larger-scale
upper trough deepens across the west and shifts eastward. As this
occurs, a strong surface low will develop over the northern/central
Plains and thunderstorms are expected along the cold front
traversing the Plains and MS Valley as well as along the warm front
extended across the Midwest. Guidance varies on the timing of these
features and the strength of moisture return, resulting in too much
uncertainty to include severe probs at this time, but this system
bares watching over the coming days.

Chilly start to yesterday but warmed up into the mid 60s with completely clear skies. Beautiful day.
Today started out inthe upper 50s as some clouds developed overnight. Cleared and now it's inthe 70s. Perfect fall day. I've already been outside most of the morning. Ate lunch and taking a short break before going to some other parks.
Warming up this week but should stay pretty comfortable. Looking like late next week will be slightly below average with highs right around 70. Actually a little disappointed. It was such a long summer and a particularly warm ending, I was hoping to keep 75-80 for highs for a while.
Current Map. 2pmEST. Upper Low now over Ontario. Well below normal in the Midwest and Northern plains where the snowpack remains. Well above normal in Georgia and SC.
