I've seen 11" snow disappear in 9 days, 6" in 3 days but here we are Day #8 in a row with snow on ground from a 3.4" snowfall. I'm amazed. And its been sunny and temps in 40s for 2 days.
As of the 24th this month is running +5.8F above normal. And the next seven days will average +6.6F above normal. Disgusting. As it stands now, if the month would end today we would be tied for the 20th mildest January on record going back to 1871

My Jan would have been about normal if it were not for the strings of 80's a few days ago. Feb looks to be around normal for the start or maybe 2 to 4 degrees above normal.
Looks like highs will be around 60F over the next week, which is close to average. Periods of rain.
Alexandria is +4.4F above normal thru the 24th, which isn't really record breaking. But what I find most disappointing is that we've had just 2 freezing lows, and it hasn't been below 30F.
Sunny and 61 in Austin on the way to 64. Good air quality.
Around the nation:
NYC mostly sunny and 45, unhealthy air quality. That darn arctic high pressure is parked over the city and no circulation.
Boston partly cloudy and 45, moderate air quality.
The last few days that nasty arctic high pressure area has been parked over the Northeast. When it sits this type of air pollution can accumulate. Rain on Saturday may help clean the air out. What they really need is a Southeast wind off the Atlantic, it will clear the air pollution up right away.
This is one the reasons why I dislike dry winter weather like in places like China. Pollution levels can be bad.
67/36 here. Rain in NYC finally cleared the poor air quality. Thank God that NYC sits next to an ocean so it can get storms from there and thank God it can also be influenced by the Gulf or it would have horrible air most winters. Mid 40's and moderate air quality in Denver, that darn inversion layer means they get quite a bit of pollution in the winter.
This just might be the year that it snows all year long, damn climate change
Interesting graphs. This is the year the Midwest and Northeast are warmer than normal and South Florida is cooler than normal. Very rare to get this pattern but it's a refreshing change. Mid 60's for Pro Bowl in Orlando under sunny skies. Nice day but a little on the cool side for the tourists. Super Bowl looks to be 71 in Miami, I'm guessing those temps will benefit SF vs. KC since KC plays in much colder conditions. SF plays in Santa Clara which is warmer than the old Candlestick site and some 70's in the winter are not off base for Santa Clara so the weather advantage goes to SF. What this means for KC is they better be drinking fluids or they may cramp up, it probably hasn't been in the 70's in KC since October.
