Some models like the ICON predict rain for this new storm.

Like clock work the models are now aligning, with the GFS predicting much more rain and mix, than snow than before in recent run. Where I live in upstate NY, the GFS was predicating 10 inches for every run, now it’s 3 with the 12z. We still have a few days before this event, but the models are now aligning on this storm track. This happened with the last storm too. The ICON and CMC have been right this year so far, the GFS is always off it seems.

In short...

-PNA = trough in west (warm east)
+NAO = no blocking over North Atlantic so fast flow across U.S
+AO = No arctic air dropping south

Big hump up in temps coming after this week for a long time. Last two Feb's were blazing so this is the new norm.

Early spring then is likely. Maybe a warm one?

Between now and mid February there is a good chance of some stickiness hopefully in the form of snow for us here as we'll be close to the jet

Global warming plus urbanisation has still made Florida much warmer than it naturally would be. Prior to the past few decades, Miami reached the 30s almost every year. Now, it's a novel event down there.

So I got a friend moving up here from Texas to live with us. My fiance flies down on Wednesday and drives back with her Thursday, getting back Friday... and guess what the forecast is for her town on Wednesday... snow! lol

Mother nature is prepping her for Midwestern weather. Now, if only we could get some snow up here. Such a dull winter this season.

Thought we would have a neutral or even La Nina this coming summer/autumn but maybe yet another El Nino (Modoki) which means another crap summer

30's are rare for me also and i am well north of Tampa but right on the gulf. Soon within 30 years 40's will be rare.
