I also must admit that I have a very bad case of hardiness zone envy and I lust after(Figuratively not literally) warmer zones than my own, maybe if climate warming actually pans out ill get to grow more plants from warmer hardiness zones
I was born and raised in deep south Louisiana so the weather here in northern Arkansas is what I consider very cold compared to what I was used to before living here. While we can get down to 0 and even negative temps here, it doesn't happen too often and I don't like it that cold and probably wouldn't want to live anywhere that gets that cold too often or stays that cold for extended periods of time.
At least the arctic and alaska has been very cold. Arctic sea ice is the largest it's been in over a decade and growing faster than any year in nearly 2 decades. So there is SOME good out of this crap winter.

It took until mid-February to get our coldest air of the season. We had 2 nights in the single digits back in November. One in December and one in January. But none of those dropped below 8F. We are currently sitting at 2F right now and I'm guessing that's where it will bottom out with the sun out now. Either way, we are 30F colder right now than we were at this time yesterday. We are looking at a high of 17F today. If that holds, it will be the coldest daytime high of the season as well and the only day this winter, including November, where the high has failed to climb at least into the 20s. It would also put us almost 25 degrees below our normal high for Valentine's Day.
