And...... what temperature would you say would be a threat to most plants?
I don’t even see freezing temps coming up for Michigan. Maybe in places where it drops significantly below freezing there could be damage to fruit trees if any are blooming yet? Temps in the mid 30s will not hurt anything in the ground right now unless people jumped the gun on planting.
A few days I said the worst is probably over... but nah. Today we have cold rain system passing through, high temp of only 5C/40F is forecasted and some wet slush/snow possible in the evening :s
Temps should recover until the weekend, but still on the lower side for May (like 14-15C). Probably going to have another cold blast next week. After that temperatures should stay stable at 13-14C (around 57F), which is still below average for May...no warmth in sight.
Update: Impressive for Hartford, CT. Period of April 15-27; 2020 is the 2nd coldest in 115 yrs of records. Hadn't been this cold since the 1950s for the period!
Philadelphia's Average temp is 50.8° and is now -2.7° BELOW NORMAL for the month. Lololol. Even with the warm first half.
According to the NWS the average for the month is 49.8. But it’s still .4 degrees above average for whole month according to them. Probably will be around average before May 1. It certainly has been cold though in the second half. The weather patterns are all off. Either too warm compared to average like winter was or too cold. That damn tough just does not want to go away though, it’s just been stuck. It’s even warming faster in Alaska now than it is here.
It gives me -2.7F when I click on Nowdata in your link. Are you sure you're checking Philadelphia and not some other station?
KISP and KLGA are now at -1.8F for April. Central Park, Newark, and JFK are at -2.5F. 15 days ago we were standing at +2F, so the past 2 weeks have been nice.
