The coldest low temperature I found this morning east of the Mississippi River was 14 degrees in Black River Falls, WI cranberry bog frost hollow country.
Last night, technically this morning, Indianapolis dropped down to 27F. That officially ranks as not only the record low for this date, but the coldest temperature ever recorded here in the month of May.
100 miles or so to the north, Fort Wayne, Indiana dropped to 23F overnight. The coldest May temperature ever recorded there as well.
Actual temp at 850mb this morning over NYC/Long Island was .... -10.3°C!!!!! (13.4°F!). RECORD COLD For the month of May! At 500mb it was -28.7°C (-19.6F).

I just checked out my location’s record May low, and it is 24F. We didn’t get close to that record with a low of 30F overnight. We might’ve broken a daily record though.
