I would love to see spring in the southern United States. Very few signs of spring so far here in the Indianapolis area, a few daffodils are starting to bloom and a few of the understory shrubs in the areas with woods are budding a little bit but other than that it still looks very much like winter here, most vegetation is still dormant
Oh it's been great. I've been looking at pictures on this date over the last 10 years and we're definitely ahead of schedule. I can tell just a difference just from Thursday when we started this warm up.

Last night was perfect. Dropped to about 60 and rained only overnight. Finished right as I woke up around 8. By 845 the clear skies were already moving in. Skies cleared out the pollennand I could see the mountains in some spots.

Another upper 70 day. Tomorrow and Monday will be right around 60 but will warm up Tuesday and by Wednesday should flirt with 80 again. I love it.

Not so sure. Maybe regionally for you. But the ENSO patterns in spring of 2006 was neutralish moving towards a weak El Nino during the summer. While we are now in a weakish Modoki El Nino moving fast to neutral territory and some of the models suggest La Nina by the second half of summer.

Just compared the new 30 year averages at ORD for the months of January and February
ORD 1981-2010 avg max/mean/low temps compared with the 1991-2010 values for January and February

Jan:31.0F/23.8F/16.5F-----------------31.2F/24.2F/17.2F
Feb: 35.3F/27.7F/20.1F-----------------35.4F/27.8F/20.2F

74F degrees today in Phoenix. I know it's below average but definitely not bad compared to the upper 30s back in Chicago LOL

You have to concentrate, man. Summon your inner phoenix powers, and you can really heat up the West, ensuring that the troughs stay away.

Well it's cold and rainy in Austin. Was in the 40's last night, had to crank the heat on. The heat up is supposed to begin in earnest tomorrow, we will see if it happens as they predict, I highly doubt it will be as fast as they say (40's to 90's in a week).

Another record broken in Tampa today with a blazing 89f and this is just the start of the hottest year ever for FL since records were kept...

Very thankfully I'm on Long island where it was 10c cooler, still gross but not god awful.

Also thankfully, this kind of weather should be fairly infrequent until late May.

Wait, what? It's disgusting because temperatures in spring are above normal? Say what?

Any kind of warmth is disgusting, especially this early.

March should still be cold; 30s are good, 40s are ok, 50s are crap, 60s are simply unacceptable.

So far this March is +6.9F above average. Outlook for April is now looking warm and drier than average

Big warm up for the Great Plains and Midwest in the 8-15 day in the Euro model.
