So it looks like in LI, NY the weather in February, March and April will be about the same +/- 10 degrees. Haven't hit 70 yet and it looks like the remaining of the month will be below average.
Seems to be typical the last few years: winter too warm, spring too cold. Why can't it be the opposite?
We had some epic gale-force winds here in central Long Island yesterday, along with 1.4" of rain.
35 mph sustained wind with 61 mph gusts during the 2pm obs yesterday. Went for a drive at 2pm and and bike ride later after the storm ended. There were lots of fallen branches, scattered garbage cans, toppled basketball hoops, etc.
There was heavy rain 130 to 180 miles offshore of me this AM in the loop current. That area has warmer water and it is good for helping to make heavy rain. We need a good soaking TS like we had in 2012 when i got a 11" in about 6 hours. Our number is coming due on a super CAT5 not very far off. Our luck won't hold for another 99 years. Out past 70 years we will see gulf temps of 94f+...
