Same here, I wish I could shovel snow every single winter morning in sub -20C temperatures.
It feels indescribably great just to be outside in the snowy scenery doing some hard work in the bitter cold, day after day. We got some seasons with 60"+ snowfall this past decade and I just kept wishing for more snow and more cold.
I agree that -20s are great to be outside. However, with good dressing
As you can probably tell from my posts, I am a warmth lover ( I find anything under 15C/60F cold, my favorite temperature is around 27C/80F, and I'm good with anything up to 35C/95F) and I ask myself everyday why I still live here in this country sized fridge called Estonia.
But actually many people are satisfied with the climate here. And it comes down to the fact that most people here just dislike heat. Most of my friends hate temperatures above 25C/77F. Many people like temperatures in the range of 12-22C. ( 52-72F)
On the other hand there are barely any true cold lovers here. Most people I know complain if the temperature gets down to about -10C/15F, people also keep their houses really warm here, like 23-24C. (75F). So yeah its kind of an interesting combination, but I guess in the end it comes down to the fact that Estonia is basicallly a cool sub-oceanic climate, so most people are used to moderately cool weather year round, but don't like any true heat or frigid cold.
I like seeing a variety in weather, so I like cold, provided it's largely confined to less than half of the year. Cold can feel refreshing, balances out the hot summer months (and vice versa), and snow is pretty to look at, has a satisfying crunch under the feet, and can be fun.
Cold to me is temperatures under about 40 F / 4 C, depending on the weather; if it's windy or rainy, cold can be up to 49.9999999999999 F / 9.9999999999999 C, whereas if it's sunny, it can be 32 F / 0 C before cold sets in.
